Bisnesdates: Impact of Startups

25.08.2017

The kick start of autumn season of Bisnesdates started Friday 24.8. with discussion about the impact of Startups at Aalto Design Factory.

BisnesDates is a morning thought bubble for anyone looking into establishing or enlarging their international business circle. For the year 2017 they are turning their attention to Aalto University’s students and local international startups.

Marianne Vikkula, the main organizer of Slush and a student at Aalto University, made a short presentation and later participants discussed their thoughts.

I heard from a bunch of high school students having their own startup at the
discussion. Schools have come out of the traditional methods of teaching and
support students to be more innovative. There are more people now talking
about being entrepreneurs than getting jobs in big corporates. The startup
culture has evolved immensely in the last 10 years and there are various
reasons for it, more opportunities, doing things own way, more learning to
name a few. Entrepreneurs are happier breaking a trail and figuring things
their way rather than following rules and approvals to get things done.
Still and all, it’s apparent how challenging it is to survive and grow in this fast
paced world. Thanks to the business accelerators which support and help these
businesses to grow in the right direction.
